Multiple svchost.exe active
This is a discussion about Multiple svchost.exe active in the Everything New Technology category; Hi! I'm running Windows 2000 with SP2. The reason I'm not using SP3 or SP4 is that my MIDI software won't work, since they included the XP MIDI routines. There's a upgrade for my software available, but that will cost me $50.
Hi!
I'm running Windows 2000 with SP2. The reason I'm not using SP3 or SP4 is that my MIDI software won't work, since they included the XP MIDI routines. There's a upgrade for my software available, but that will cost me $50. So I'm still on SP2.
Anyway, I noticed awhile ago that I have TWO svchost.exe running directly after startuo. While fooling around with it a couple of minutes ago I had THREE of them. A restart made it back to two. I don't want to have two active. It's not like that after a pure installation, is it? Any idea what the cause could be, and/or how to make it to only one svchost.exe active? I'm not too happy of the idea to make a reinstall of Windows.
Thanks,
Freddo

I have 6 of them running. One is local service, one is network service and the other four are I don't know what ;(
And I don't even care, but I'd be lucky to have just two

It's perfectly normal. Do a search for svchost on here and/or on the MS Knowledge base.
