NAT in my Routing and Remote Access

My server downstairs is running Windows 2000 Server. I have a T1 connection through my school, and I have multiple computers hooked up through my one internet connection using NAT (not ICS. . . which really seems to stink).

My server downstairs is running Windows 2000 Server. I have a T1 connection through my school, and I have multiple computers hooked up through my one internet connection using NAT (not ICS... which really seems to stink).

Anyways... i had to move around my NIC cards within my server the other day because I decided to put an iWill UDMA/66 controller card in there. I did not disable NAT before i did this and now it is all screwed up.

In Routing and Remote Access (rara i'm gonna call it) i can add my server, but I can never get routing to begin. I can't restart routing or anything. I think it's still looking for the previous NIC configuration.

So I thought I would try to enable ICS to clear out NAT. I get an error saying that ICS can't be started cuz NAT already exists.

So basically I'm in a circle. I can't clear out any NAT that exists on my computer because RARA isnt' letting me, and I can't enable ICS because NAT is still around somewhere.

Is there a registry entry or anything that I can delete or change so that NAT no longer exists on my server? Some way to do it behind the scenes?... because RARA (the way to normally do it) isnt working due to my new NIC configuration without my disabling NAT beforehand. Thanx!

Anybody?

I need a way to clear uninstall NAT other than through the RARA console.

Sorry bud. No idea, as I don't use the software-based routing methods that much.

Its ones of those small things in 2K that really sucks (DONT SHOOT ME !). If you move a card around without first uninstalling it, 2K will not only keep the drivers and settings for it loaded, but also hide it from view.

I had this problem with both a NIC and a modem. I tried searching through the registry for all instances of my network card, and deleting keys that appeared relevant (touch and go I can tell you), and that seemed to work to a degree, though in the end, I started a fresh, I advise the same.

I do believe someone else with the modem problem fixed it though using something called Connection Manager.

Sorry I can't be of any further help.

Thanks everybody.

I went ahead and reinstalled

All is working beautifully now, and I will be sure to uninstall NAT before I do any more moving around of my NIC cards!
