Need definite answer about VIA drivers in XP?
This is a discussion about Need definite answer about VIA drivers in XP? in the Windows Hardware category; Do I or do I not install hte latest VIA 4in1 drivers on XP? I have an Abit KT7A. The default XP install comes with VIA bus mastering drivers. I know in 2k you have to get rid of them as well as install the newest 4in1's to get decent HDD performance.

I have an Abit KT7A. The default XP install comes with VIA bus mastering drivers. I know in 2k you have to get rid of them as well as install the newest 4in1's to get decent HDD performance. However in XP UDMA is enabled already (IDE1 is showing UDMA mode 5).
I've heard people saying I shouldn't install any VIA drivers so I'm not too sure.

Actually i found that if you download and install just the agp driver it gives better performance over the standard XP one, but it will work with or without.
