Need for Speed

This is a discussion about Need for Speed in the Windows Hardware category; Hi there all, I noticed on the comapible game list on this site that Need for Speed 3 & 4 where marked non-compatible. I have got 3,4 & Porsche Unleased running under Whistler. Someone might want to change them to compatible.

Did you have to poke it to get it to work? or did it just install with a doublelclick. the compatibility list is for apps/games that work *unmodified*

OP
Its has been a few weeks since I installed them but if I remember right, NFS 3 will install with no problems ( point & click ), NFS 4 will install but once installed you either need to manuelly edit the registry or use the patch that was used under 2000 to fix it, and the NFS 5 installed without having to do anything to it also.

from memory (its been a LLOONG time) nfs4 in win2k would complain about needed windows 98, etc. i know the game ran fine on my banshee in win2k, i had installed it from my dualboot, and i believe appcompat works on the installer. does whistler solve this? or did you have to use the Compatibility mode thing?

If you download the Application Compatibility Toolkit it has a registry fix (same fix that Whistler has) that will be installed upon install. You won't receive and error upon installs NFS HS anymore.
