Hi all..
Im having a annoying problem with need for speed 5 porche unleashed under windows 2000..
it just wont work.
i try to start the game, fine, it starts, i come to the splash screen but then, my computer begins to think, ALOT.
and it wont get any further than the splashscreen..
when i go out to check whats wrong i see that all my allocated memory is being used to the max.
but the strange thing is that my brother can get it to work with no problem..
imean i have a regular computer, 866 mhz 512 RAM 2x 50 gb harddrive, asus 7700 GeForce 2 GTS diamond mx 300 soundcard.
I have tried alot of things, have tried to install directX 7.0
have tried to change graphic drivers, i have even tried to re-install windows 2000.. with no success.
any ideas?
anyone know whats wrong/had the same problem?
help!

Ah yes, the dreaded memory leak problem of NFS PU and Windows 2000. Happens mostly if you have SP2. Check here for possible solutions. http://www.ntcompatible.com/n.shtml One of them is to delete the gimme.dll and try to run it. The other is to reconfigure the swap file. The way I got it to run was to uninstall SP2 go back to SP1, install it and run it, if it works update back to SP2 and it should continue to run.
OP
I deleted gimme.dll and it worked!
thanx alot!
