HEY GUYS.. NEW TO THIS SERVER... i am attending a tech school and for a system projects class we need to create a program to parse log files for certain patterns that MIGHT be attacks on the system... EX) multiple log on failures ect ect... i need major help! this is what i need.... 1.) "attacks" or "patterns" we should look for on log files that will help us identify the people... 2.) a script in perl that will search log files for these "patterns" 3) a way to "automate" people to send us their log files from their computers, theprobelm with this is that everyone owns their own computer so we cant set permissions for them... is there a way we can do this without screwing with their local settings??? HELP ME OUT INEED IT BAD!!
