Hello

I have the ASUS P3B-F Motherboard and I'm trying to find out the fastest processor I can put in it. I have looked through my Bios, looked throught the manual that came with it, I also have looked at my screen during boot up to see if I could sell the info but I couldn't.

This is the info I need to find below. This is what the Asus tech support gave me.

Can anyone give me an idea how to find this info.

Dear customer
Thanks for choosing ASUSTeK.
Please firstly check your motherboard. If the PCB version is R1.03 or later and BIOS version is 1004 or later, it can support to Pentium III 1GHz processor (100MHz FSB) and Celeron 800MHz CPU. Otherwise, it can only support to Pentium III 600MHz (100MHz FSB, slot 1).

Thanks

Regards

Joe

Grab a flashlight open the case adn go for a search. My revision number on my P2B-F is printed on the edge up near the keyboard connector or down on the bottom edge near the model name (which is HUGE)
Sorry for being unsure, but i'm @ college right now, so i'm picking my brains.

Good luck

lokk for the revision number printed on mainboard. then you can see whether you can only use the old pentium3 up to 600mhz or the new ones (coppermine), actually only up to 850mhz available. alternatives: if you can use the new ones, you may want to use the celeron800 at 75 mhz external front side bus, as this one can be used at that speed without any problems. other alternative: if you have an old mainboard or you are not sure, buy the cpu for socket370 and get an adapter for slot DELIVERING OWN VOLTAGE ;( . Make sure its one with own voltage regulator! Ask a good dealer!

i meant the 800 mhz celerons at 112mhz, sorry.
and the 850mhz limitation is for 100 mhz coppermines only (there are no faster ones available for 100mhz) - you cant use 133mhz coppermines on p3b-f at all, no matter which board revision.
