I'm thinking about going AMD..but I've had problems

the motherboard I'm looking at is the IWILL KK266-R KT133a motherboard

the CPU, not sure about...probably in the 1 ghz range--won't know until after the March 6th price drop.

Also...I will be overclocking.

But the rest of my system will be a

GeForce2 GTS 32mb DDR
SBLive(original)
Trendware 4 port NIC/10/100 switch
Promise Ultra 100 controller card
256mb Mushkin Rev2(highly overclockable)
2 UDMA100 drives
2 CDRW and a DVD Drive

the cooling will be with an Alpha PEP66T
300W PSU too.

Just wondering what problems I may run into with this

I will run 2000
I will keep my nvidia card
The soundcard will be kept as well

Should I still look into this system, or are there still significant conflicts with the VIA chipset?

My last endeavour with the AMD was a KX133 Asus K7V and a 750 classic

If you want 1GHz, you could wait until a mobo with the AMD 760MP comes out with support for the new core and get an AMD smp system. Otherwise the Asus A7V133 might be pretty good if you can make use of that stupid AMR slot. Ive got the original A7V rev.1004, its pretty good, and stable. Plus its got an extra pair of ATA100. The A7V133 has a RAID controller.
I also have heard good things about Tyan boards. I have one in my PIII system and have been very impressed with them. I have had zero problems with the board. If you want to do overclocking, look elsewhere though. They have a board based on the KT133 chipset--I may have gone with that one had it been available in my town. Tyan is very good to my knowlege. Id highly recommend a Tyan board.

i recommend looking at [H]ardOCP for motherboards they recommend since they are the kings of overclocking. IMO I will only buy motherboards from ASUS and ABIT because they have the best features and i have never had a problem with their stability.
