Netgear router port forwarding

This is a discussion about Netgear router port forwarding in the Windows Networking category; I'm having trouble downloading video when I connect to the internet via my Netgear WGR 14 router. I use Windows Media Player as the default to view video. Real Player doesn't work when asked to in the same situation.

When I connect directly to the cable modem I can download video with either program.

Does anyone know about port forwarding for my router so the Media Player will work properly?

Also, i'm setting up a Lynksis router at my sister's this weekend, any info to help avoid the same problem would be appreciated.

Thanks
