network connection for win2k

This is a discussion about network connection for win2k in the Everything New Technology category; I can't get my network connection to work for my 2 win 2k machines. I have a direct connection between the two machines, both have the win2k operating system and the connnection worked previously before i got a new computer.

I can't get my network connection to work for my 2 win 2k machines. I have a direct connection between the two machines, both have the win2k operating system and the connnection worked previously before i got a new computer. If you need more info drop a post.

Are you using a cross over cable? What are the IP settings of the two machines?

It is a crossover cable. However, I dont know the IP addresses of the computers. I also have a DSL connection thaat i would like to get working.

You should honestly get an inexpensive cable/dsl router, that would be a better solution than a crossover cable and ICS... Less headaches.

goto the properties of the pc with the intenet ocnection. enable sharing. reboot both machines.

well, if your router has multiple outs for more than one pc, it should work without problems, just try redefining the protocols that the pc's are using on the network and the internet sharing..anyway it shouldn't be a problem
