networking xppro problems

This is a discussion about networking xppro problems in the Windows Networking category; I am using motorola4200/modem from comcast/cable,linksys 4 port router,modem to uplink, computer A in 2,B in 3. A sets 68 IP and gets internet B does not show up,B gets 192 and gets no internet,buts gets to router ping 192.

I am using motorola4200/modem from comcast/cable,linksys 4 port router,modem to uplink, computer A in 2,B in 3. A sets 68 IP and gets internet B does not show up,B gets 192 and gets no internet,buts gets to router ping 192.168.1.1 setup no ping to other computer = unreachable 4sent 4recieved. help?

I think you need to clarify the question again. Do you have a modem that is a router or you have a modem and a router? If the latter then you have too many routers, you need a hub or switch rather than a router, the modem should be the only one routing.

I am using the modem comcast gave me and connected to linksys router. I found that I need to use WAN port instead of UPLINK port and computers found each other and the internet. It is working great, did not know that Uplink was for using another router for more computers rather than hooking up network.
Thanks everyone for leaving paper trail for me to follow it helped me out. Great site for support!
