New to digital video

I'm looking to get started in DV, but only as a hobby. This means no really expensive toys to play with. I was looking at the Panasonic DV27 and DV28 cameras. Now, as far as I can tell, they are exactly the same apart from the the DV28 has DV in enabled, and the DV27 does not.

I can get a widget to enable DV in on the DV27 for a lot less than it would cost to upgrade to the DV28 camera. I can get the DV27 for £399 and the DV28 for £520 (inc VAT). Is this a good price? It seems to be.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these cameras? Can anyone confirm (or deny) that the DV in is the only difference?

Final question does anyone have some good links to DV related forums. UK based ones would be nice, but as long as they are fairly busy and have some knowledgeable people in, that's all I'm really after

TIA
