This is a discussion about newbie in the Windows Hardware category; just ordered a new computer with windows 2000 on it. . . reading the forum trying to pick up on some info as i no nothing of the os is it as complicated as it appears to a novice? how much harder to learn than win 98? a7v 1.

if you really are a newbie, you might not even notice much difference between win98 and win2k, except that it will crash FAR less frequently (if at all). The differences are only apparant when you are changing hardware, installing drivers, tweaking system settings, etc. Don't try to learn it just by reading though.... wait until you have the machine, and then you can match what you read to what you see.

Thanks for the info one other thing the computer doesnt come with a modem...i have an external usb now do you think it will work under win 2000
most likely, but i can't really answer that if you don't say what brand/model it is...
