Hi everyone, first time poster, hopefully you experts can help me because this is my favourite game! Anyway, NHL Open Ice is an old game I used to use on my Windows 95 pc. I am currently running Windows XP Home edition, service pack 2. The game starts and plays perfectly....until the end of the first period. In between periods the game crashes EVERY TIME at EXACTLY the same point! I have another computer that runs Windows XP SP1 and the exact same thing is happening. I have tried going into properties for the exe and running compatibility mode for Windows 95, as well as 98 and experimenting with all the options with resolution and colour and have had no luck. Please help since I am dying to play this game! Thank you!

If you still have the installation disks for 95 or 98, then I would suggest installing Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007.

It is a free download and is an easy workaround for using applications that only work on legacy systems. It will take some tweaking and a little studying to learn how to work with a virtual machine, but this is usually the quickest and easiest solution. You might even find that other applications will work using this as well.
