I have this problem with my computer ( windows XP). EverytimeI try to play a song and I always getting a dialog box that says Bad Direct sound and when I when to the volume control and got a dialog box that says: no active mixer devices available.

EverytimeI try to play a song and I always getting a dialog box that says Bad Direct sound and when I when to the volume control and got a dialog box that says: no active mixer devices available. And so, I uninstall and reinstall my audio driver hoping that it's going to fix the problem, unfortunately it didnt. I tried reinstalling it a couple of times and it gave me the same problem. ;(...I dont know what else to do...Help pls!

This may sound silly, but be sure that the cable is making good contact between your sound card and your speakers. I have had plugs at the end of the speaker have too much plastic surrounding the metal contacts such that the metal on the plug does not really make good contact with the metal input in the sound card. I had to shave the plastic back a little or rotate the plug until I could hear some scratching noises to be sure full contact was being made. All the while I kept getting a message that I had no sound card.
