No text on taskbar icons?

Just wondering, is it possible to get rid of the text on the taskbar icons so that when you have a program ruuning you only get the icons for it and not the text next to it in Windows XP Pro without using a third party program? Thanks in advance

Place the Taskbar on the left or on the right of your Desktop

so yeah, that does work (thanks) but I really want my taskbar at the top of my screen, and I want the application buttons/icons to be only as wide as the glyphs (and to not contain any text) when I get lotsa them packed in there (this was possible in Win2K).

I have found the reg keys that to some extent control the "width" of taskbar app icon/buttons, but the taskbar code appears to ignore those settings for their lower limits.

I assume the taskbar is implemented as part of explorer.exe, is that correct?

If so, does anyone know where in explorer.exe is the apparently hard-coded lower "width" limit for app icon/buttons? Cuz if we know that, we can patch/fix it.

thanks,
