Nothing but problems since SP2

Now I don't know if it matters or not - or if there is a difference, but I am using that SP2 that was available just before MS had theirs on their website, its the one that was mentioned here earlier.

But I will say this! Rogue Spear is nearly unplayable online! CS is laggy as hell. My newsgroups are slow, or even seem to go into a sleep mode. I tried to play Ground Control, and have their latest patch - yet when I just go to set the options and select "accept", my PC reboots every time! Response time for programs to run seem to be sloooow as hell too! And my Outlook 2K is slow to load and get messages. It seems like my system is pretty much going to hell.

Anyone got suggestions? Has anyone tried to uninstall SP2 and revert back to SP1?

I grabbed the version that was on the microsoft website, and it's been fine. No real difference between this and SP1 to be honest, apart from compatibility mode, which i never use.

You could try uninstalling you one you've got and installing the one i used. But really, there is hardly any noticeable difference between 1 and 2

Mike, I too am using the pre-release version of SP2, right before it was offically released, but I've had no problems with it. The only thing I've noticed is that UT takes a little while to load between maps, but that's it. This is the only thing I've had with any of the service packs. Hey, at least some of us don't have problems, so you know there is a way out.
I do have to agree with David about SP2 not really being different than SP1. Next time I reinstall, I may not use SP2, and just go with SP1 and leave it at that.

Before I re-installed, I had sp2, it was not the cause though. I just
did a fresh install, went to windows update, SP2 was only 16megs!
for my machine! to be sure it could not mess your machine up
that bad.

Well, I just did the uninstall of SP2 back to SP1, and so far my system seems to be running back to normal. It was late, and I got pissed off that eveytime I tried to play R6:RS online, all sorts of weird stuff would happen - reboots, dropping to desktop, etc . . . . And I don't have a weird system either - Intel mobo (D815EEA) & cpu (PIII 933), and know every nut and bolt in what I built - nothing fancy, weird, or no-name brand. Of course it MIGHT have been that few day PRE-release SP2 that was news on here??? I think it was mentioned that it might not fully have been what MS was going to release 2 days later . . . .

I have downloaded both SP2 "version" - the one that came earlier and the official one. That both had exactly the same size, i tried both on two new Win2k instalations and they both worked fine...
maybe the prob is another one

Well, I hate to say it, but maybe its time to do a complete fresh restart and format/install? But damn, all the work I put into mine as it is now, UGH! To start all over from scratch again is NOT what I want to do. And geez, Win2K should NEVER be like 95/98/ME where it IS common to have to restart fresh every so many months.
