NT4 PDC loses elections on network

Hi Again.
I am having difficulty with my master browser losing elections on my network.
The network currently consists of multiple Win2K workstations and 2K Advanced Servers with an NT4 Server as PDC (not an ideal situation, but anyway).
Every week or so, the PDC loses an election to one of the other machines (random) and I then lose all file sharing functionality on the PDC, nobody can browse to it either.
I have made registry changes to all the 2K servers and a few of the workstations to not maintain server list and set the "isdomainmaster" entry to "no" or "false", but the problem keeps re-occurring.
I have been nutting this one out with Microsoft tech support for the last month and a half with no joy.
It has been mentioned that it could be related to a corrupt WINS database but im not sure.
Any ideas?
Cheers
