NT4.0 compatibility with Nikon Coolpix 2200 camera?

Has anyone worked around the apparent incompatibility between NT and the software in this camera? I have two plugs in the front of my tower that accept the cable from the camera, but nothing seems to happen.

I have two plugs in the front of my tower that accept the cable from the camera, but nothing seems to happen. The techs at Nikon tell me that the software that came with the camera doesn't work with NT. Is there a workaround of some kind? I am hopelessly ignorant about computers.

Scrap NT and install Windows 2000 or XP to use your camera.
NT does not support USB, you could try a USB to serial converter cable and connect camera to PC's serial port instead.

Thanks Peter for the reply. I was hoping to avoid scrapping NT and will try your suggestion about buying a USB to serial converter cable. I assume that would be plugged into an 'empty' 9 pin receptacle in the back of the tower?
