ntoskrnl.exe corrupt, access denied in recovery console
I tried to follow instructions on replacing the ntoskrnl. exe file and I received the access denied after typing in the expand string. . . . I then followed instructions and typed this exactly with G as my cd rom drive letter.
I tried to follow instructions on replacing the ntoskrnl.exe file and I received the access denied after typing in the expand string....
I then followed instructions and typed this exactly with G as my cd rom drive letter.....G:\>set AllowAllPaths = true
then I hit enter and typed my expand string and it still tells me access denied....
What am I doing wrong?
In recovery console I selected the number 1 as that was my only option for my operating system then I hit enter then I type in G: for my cd rom drive and hit enter.
I have found many different commands to type to replace the ntoskrnl.exe file with no sucess....
Can anyone please give me simple step by step instructions on how to fix this problem?
I get the ntoskrnl.exe file corrupt at boot and it does not go any further..... I have tried to reinstall windows but it wants to format in order to do this.
I am very desperate as formatting is a disaster because I have some very very important files that I dont need to loose.

I think you are supposed to type the set command without a drive letter.
Like:
set allowwildcards = true
set allowallpaths = true
set allowremovablemedia = true
set nocopyprompt = true
Not:
G:\>set allowwildcards = true
G:\>set allowallpaths = true
G:\>set allowremovablemedia = true
G:\>set nocopyprompt = true
When you say reinstall Windows do you mean a repair install?
If so to do that you push R after setup detects the Windows install.
