In my eXPerience using Windows XP, i have found that the Det. 12.41 WHQL's for Win2k seem to work the best. What are your thoughts?

i have not completed the download of 2526 yet, i will let you guys know what luck i have with which drivers, i'm going to install the 8.03's first to see if they lock exiting OpenGL games, then i'll most likely go back to the 12.41's.

Four-and-Twenty: ouch!
Heh. Me have RC1 &2 but haven't tried them out yet. I've got too many classes and work to try to fiddle with XP right now.
Hey, at least you got a nvidia card under XP, I gotta deal with my Voodoo 3 under it--which kicked arse in Beta 2!!!! You know the GF2MX's are pretty cheap, so you could jump to that and leave the TNT as a backup card for emergencies, which is probably what will happen to the V3 once I find something really cheap.
Oh, someone mentioned earlier about Win2k drivers for nvidia cards: still using 10.80's. Haven't seen anyones faster and got tired of trying new dets out to find the fastest.

the 10.80's are still really good drivers, they're on my "Favorite Det." List. A GF2MX is a great card, i recommend the Hercules 3D Prophet II MX, it has a ***y blue color to it and overclocking it great, even with the stock Heatsink.

i forgot about the 10.80 that is the only driver that works for me all around except for one thing. there is a little white square just below mid screen when i play need for speed. that is however the only issue with these drvers. i would use the 6.5 but those ones don't work with alpha blending at 32 bit for me and i use the desktop alot more than i play games.

I've got a Prophet 2 MX, and i'm using the 12.90 drivers with RC2. They do work well, except for the occasional blue screen error concerning the nv4disp.dll file.

just installed RC2 2526, the 12.41's work fine here, so do the 8.03's and 12.90's.

just benchmarked the 8.04 drivers, i got a 246 3dmark increase in 3dmark 2000 v1.1.

Default benchmark:
1024x768x32bpp

12.41 - 5309
08.04 - 5555

get the 8.04's here:
http://www.maxreboot.com/download.php?op=viewsdownload&sid=12

BTW, i might add that all of my benchmarks are done with:

-cpu set at the default 667MHz (133) setting
-ram is set to cas2. pc133

The 8 det's are supposedly optimized for DX7. Since 3Dmark 2000 is a DX7 benchmark that makes since but I bet 3Dmark 2001 sees an increase too.

i don't like running 3dmark 2001 because i only have a GF2MX and my scores seem very low compared to a system that has a GF3. I might install 2001 and benchmark them, i'll have to do it later though.

okay, just benched the driver under 2001, don't laugh, my scores suck big time compared to GF3 scores:

3DMark 2001

Default Benchmark:
1024x768x32bpp

12.41 - 3531
08.04 - 3668

a 137 point gain going from the 12.41's to the new 8.04's!

Here is the driver comparison under 3DMark 2000 v1.1 (Default Benchmark):

1024x768x32bpp:

12.41 - 5309
8.04 - 5555
14.10 - 5188

I had to do the benchmark on the 14.10's twice cause i couldn't believe that they were that bad.

BTW, i might add that all of my benchmarks are done with:

-cpu set at the default 667MHz (133) setting
-ram is set to cas2. pc133

EddiE, Did you know if 8.04 will work for TNT2 Ultra (Diamond V770U)..I tried different drivers(6.5, 12.41 NON-WHQL, 14.10) but any drivers higher than 6x series will cause some random lockup (Win2k SP2)..Any suggestion for the driver that I can use for both Performance/Quality?

i know all about the TNT2-Detonator lockup/bsod problem, all i can tell you is to download the new 8.04's and give it a shot.
