err SHS, the point is not whats fair and what isnt, the point is who can give us the most performance. right now I have a dual 1.02 gig PIII it is pretty much the king of the hill right now in raw performance, but once these dual AMD mobos come out they are gonna SPANK IT. Hopefully by that time intel will have something newer and better out. Im personally happy about this new informaiton, more competitoin means more new tech stuff and lower prices...

I'm keeping my Dual P3-700E@933 until next christmas. I'd rather have an EXCELLENT motherboard (VP6) with so-so memory than a crappy motherboard with good memory. Heck, those benchmarks may be nice but real-world performance is where it's at. Compare SMP scores to Non-SMP and I'd rather stay with SMP. I'll be getting dual 2ghz P4's next year.

wonder what Im gonan do with this dual pIII gigahertz then....
but come on fellas you have to appreciate the sheer amount of power that is being displayed in that benchmark. Lets not have sour grapes cuz we dont have it.

Yeah, if you have nothing better to do then spend $$$$ on dual 2.5ghz's and all of the trimmings, spend $ on something else, like a life.

Like I said. Right now Dual P3's are the best solution for Windows 2000. Since the dual Athlon's are not out and won't really be out until the middle of this year they really will not have matured until this Christmas. This Christmas they WILL have to mature because the SMP P4's will be out in force. P4's will be up to 2ghz by then and will be a pretty big force to reckon with. Right now for gamers it's the video card that's holding us back. My lil' Geforce 2 GTS is HEAVILY fillrate limited. I have TOO much processing power for games. Although the extra processing power of a dual Athlon would be nice it's hardly worth it to pump cash into an unoptimized most likely buggy system.
Me...well I'm waiting more for the NV20 than for Dual P4/Athlons's.

Eddie come on now man, no need to get nasty for no reason. Computers are my hobby/support system, I unlike many other users dont just use comptuers for gaming, browsing, and stocks, it supports my active and frivilous lifestyle, so I dont mind pouring a few dollars into it. I really dont appreciate ur empty comments though.

well now that we got more info earliest its coming out is q3 2001, and its not the athlons it is the palaminos I belive. oh well now Im happy again
