OpticBook 3600 driver updates and patches
This is a discussion about OpticBook 3600 driver updates and patches in the Windows Hardware category; The OpticBook 3600 is great for scanning books and getting right to the inner edge of the page and works OK on other tasks too but there can be problems with the software provided, or working with newer operating systems.

(I'm still using Windows XP Professional - 32 bit as it matches everything else I use)
CD1 was packaged with my scanner but the installer kept asking for CD2.
After scouring the internet and a couple of Plustek sites I found a solution to the problems I was having with getting the computer to recognise the scanner and getting the scanner to scan.
If you are having similar scanner problems with the 3600 I would suggest you try the Plustek website at

and download the following updates:
OpticBook3600-V4013_15L.zip
book3600_patch_warmup.exe
ug_opticbook_v1_3.zip
opticbook_3600.pdf
I've included the warmup patch below.
Their software might be worth a look on the same site
Try the ebook software under the Software Application heading

Slightly off topic: Should the lamp (cold cathode) not light up completely, i. e. at the tube's corners only, place the palm of your hand over the tube when switching the scanner on.
It should be unnecessary to open the case as some users have written elsewhere.
