Outlook saving images as BMP ?
This is a discussion about Outlook saving images as BMP ? in the Windows Software category; Somehow my Windows XP has decided that BMP is the default image format. If I receive a mail with an image contained - an animated gif for example, if I save the image I am only offered ' save as BMP '.

If I receive a mail with an image contained - an animated gif for example, if I save the image I am only offered ' save as BMP '. Of course the animation no longer works... even if I rename the file to .gif
I have noticed that some images on the web which are definitely .jpg images are also saved as 'untitled.bmp '
Any idea how to fix this ?

Try emptying your Temporary Internet Files folder. Apparently this can happen when it gets too full.
OP
Thanks..tried that but no luck.
If I go ' save as ' it only offers me untitled.bmp
If I force it to save as pic.gif ( an animated gif ) it does allow me to save in this format, but on opening the file it is a static image, and does not animate. It's not a biggie, just seems rather an odd glitch?
