Over clocking, mobo?

This is a discussion about Over clocking, mobo? in the Windows Hardware category; Everyone can point, laugh, throw stones at me if you want, but I have little clue on what Overclocking and Mobo means. . . . I know it increases perfomance speeds and stuff but can someone please give me a text-book definition and then a simplified version of the text-book defintion and if you're doing nothing else ...

Mobo: MOtherBOard.
Overclocking: "is the process of forcing a computer component to run at a higher clock rate than designed or designated by the manufacturer." - source:wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking)
 
I am overclocking my CPU from 2.0GHz to 2.20 GHz at the moment, for example.
