Pare Down the OS
This is a discussion about Pare Down the OS in the Customization Tweaking category; Does anyone know of a way to pare down the W2K OS? We build machines that are part of a SCADA solution and we just don't need all the drivers, multimedia, etc. stuff that comes with the standard install of W2K.

Just out of interest, what SCADA environment will you be running.
We run Citect on the machine called Arrakis (see below) to control our water and sewer system. The OS is Win2000 server and Citect is coupled with MSDE SQL.

Have you considered: http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html
With that I have got my 2k installation down to about 330Mb (I have programs that install alot of stuff in the 'system32' dir, so you could probably get yours down to around about 200mb).

As with anything this invasive I recommend heavy testing before deploying.
