Partition Magic 5.0 and XP or advice

According to a recent Langa list reference, partition magic 5. seems to work on Win XP. . before I purchase an old copy I want to see if anyone knows if that is correct. I heard later versions had problems.

According to a recent Langa list reference, partition magic 5. seems to work on Win XP.. before I purchase an old copy I want to see if anyone knows if that is correct. I heard later versions had problems... I'm looking for a prog that hold my through the process. Any ideas or suggestions are truly appreciated!!

Well I don't know about that because I personally only use PM8.xx due to it's support for NTFS v3.1.
 
It's possible that earlier versions would work but only on the older NTFS 1/2(NT3/4) and NTFS3.0(Win 2k).
 
Plus there is support for the Linux EXT1/2/3 filesystem in the latest release

How do I find out waht version of NTFS I have? Have you had problems with PM 8?

If you installed XP (Pro or Home) on a new drive/partition then it will be NTFS v3.1. If you installed XP as an upgrade from Win 2k then it will be NTFS v3.0.
 
No problems using PM8 so far

I have never had a problem with Partition Magic 8 on Windows XP.
