pc not recog usb
my friend is having me write this. . . she did a recovery on her computer, she uses windows 98sec. she has explorer 6. 0, now she is having a problem getting her computer to re-recognize her modem for her cable hook up internet access.
my friend is having me write this. . . she did a recovery on her computer, she uses windows 98sec. she has explorer 6.0, now she is having a problem getting her computer to re-recognize her modem for her cable hook up internet access. . everytime they plug it in the screen turns black computer re-boots and goes into safe mode and says it does not recocognize usb port. Any help.

Most cable modems have both USB connections and ethernet connections. If she has an ethernet card in her machine, she can hook up the modem to the ethernet connection. This requires an ethernet wire to go from the modem to the computer. Ethernet is the preferred connection to cable modems precisely because USB ports are flakey.
