PCMCIA video card

This is a discussion about PCMCIA video card in the Windows Hardware category; Do they make PCMCIA video cards? It would seem that a market would exist for one. While my ATI rage mobility works OK, it would be great to be able to upgrade the video card for higher graphics performance.

No. I remember a looooonnnggg time ago back in the 286 error where there was a push for PCMCIA in the desktop and there was a possibility for PCMCIA for vide but it never really happened. It's due to the way the interface works, any video out of an PCMCIA slot would be at least on par with your on-board....if it even worked.

PCMCIA is too slow for the most recent graphics performance. But one was made. I saw it again recently in Akihabara in Japan. It was in a bargin bin - But it did come with a DSTN 4 inch screen. I bought the screen and ditched the card. I am thinking of rigging it up at the front of my PC with a Trio32 graphics card (no 3d no problems) for the ultimate Status Screen
