Hi. I'm trying to get Petz 4 (PF Magic) to run without freezing in Windows 2000. The program's support people will not address any 2000 issues, as they will only deal with Win 95 or 98 issues. I tryed downloading the latest compatiblilty patch, no change (the program is not listed as one that Microsoft addressed in any of their patches).
I'm wondering if one can submit a particular program to Microsoft to address in any of their upcoming patches.
I activated the application compatibility utility in Win 2000 (by running regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll) and told 2000 to run the program in Win 95 mode (and also tryed in Win 98 mode) and got the same results. The program immediately comes back with an error message that it can not run if the name of the its .exe file has been changed. For some reason, this compatibility mode routine convinces the program that its .exe file name has been changed, and it can't handle this.
Any ideas on how to go about solving this problem would be appreciated as I want to keep running 2000, but also need to keep my daughter happy.
Thanks
