64^C pIII, is this safe?
This is a discussion about 64^C pIII, is this safe? in the Windows Hardware category; i've just installed mother-board-monitor 5 on my computer and found that my cpu temp is sitting on 59-64^C when at 100% processor usage! i'm pretty sure this isn't normal, is it safe? i've got a PIII 800 with the standard heat-sync and fan, not overclocked.

Mine ran at about 42*C under full load, so I would wonder about yours. I can't remember what max spec was, but I *thought* it was something like 75*C. You should take a look at Intel's site to make sure. Also, did you use a good thermal paste when the HSF was installed?
OP
nope, i just used the tape that came with it. Maby i should get some real stuff and try that. I'll take a look at their site now. thanks dude...

Not sure if this'll work: °
EDIT: Okay it does work, you just put the text ° when you want a degree symbol

Cool, I wondered about that before but was too lazy to do anything about it...
