Okay, I went through all 41 pages of this msg board to make sure my question wasn't already asked and answered heres my deal:
I'm running Win2k advanced server
When trying to leave an area I get a run time error and the game craps out I went to Interplay's website there was this fix for Win9x:
A: This will happen most often when the area file has copied over incorrectly from the CD. You will want to do the following:
Right click on "My Computer"
Select "Properties"
Click on the "Performance" tab
Click on "File System"
Click on the "CD-ROM" tab
Under "Optimize access pattern for" select "No Read Ahead"
Click on "OK"
Click on "CLOSE"
The system will want to restart for these changes to take effect. Click "YES" to restart.
Delete all area files contained within the C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CACHE\ folder.
Okay, my problem is I cannot find the "optimize access patterns dialogue box" anywhere, as a matter of fact I cannot find any type of dialogue box to set any commands for my cd player (actually it's a dvd-rom player but I currently don't have a software decoder)
I'm not a tech guy, I'm a graphic designer and a game freak which is why I bought a P.C. but I upgraded to NT 5 from '98 because it was the quickest solution to network My Mac so I don't mess around with anything but file sharing priviliges and my TCP/IP protocols ocassionally, so I have no idea where to look (and I have looked.)
thanks in advance
