Please help me with my Linksys router...

Hello! Please bear with me, as I am not really computer savvy. Unfortunatly, neither Linksy's or earthlink support seems to be either. I have two computers networked together. My secondary computer connects just fine, but my main computer will not.

Hello! Please bear with me, as I am not really computer savvy. Unfortunatly, neither Linksy's or earthlink "support" seems to be either.

I have two computers networked together. My secondary computer connects just fine, but my main computer will not. This happened after Windows Update updated my ethernet driver. Yes I have rolled back the driver, but to no avail. When I type 192.168.1.1 into my browser (on the main computer) it just tells me Page Cannot Be Dispalyed. I have tried everything I can think of (which isn't much, messing with the IP address) but nothing works. If I ask it to detect an address automatically, it is unable to do so.

Please feel free to ask me to tell you anything else that may help you to help me solve this problem. I have been dealing with both Linksys and Earthlink over the phone for well over a week now, and no one can figure it out. I do have my firewalls disabled.

Thank you so much for any help!
Sarah

Hi :): you are fast! I will call them and ask, but this is a home setworking setup from Earthlink itself, and they say they are compatible. Everything USED to work fine, until a month ago when the guy installing my new dishwasher threw a fuse and shut my computers down. I fixed THAT, but now when the ethernet driver updated I am back to the same problem, but the last way I fixed it (giving it a static IP) won't work now.

LOL I hope that makes sense!

Love,
Sarah
