Please read this: will DVD writer bought in US work in India
Sorry; this rather is a newbie question If i buy a dvd writer in US will it be able to play DVDs in India. I am aware of some DVD region thing; now i dont understand whether dvds bought here will play or not (both all region and region specific).

Typically you can change the region of the DVD drive a total of 4 times, the 5th change is final, locking the value. You can do this directly from Device Manager in Windows.
