Pls Help--GF 6600 GT blue screen problem
Just bought a GF 6600 GT from XTX and am having some serious issues. Started with RTW going blank, now getting blue screens at start up with a NV4_disp error (if you know what to do, I'll put the full error line.

System specs:
P4-3000
1G RAM
GF 6600 GT in PCIx slot
305W PSU (is that the prob???)
Windows XP
Have tried using both the 66.31 driver and the newer one.
ps, I'm not super technical, so pls use baby-speak.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the power supply may not be up to snuff with all this hardware. Look at the label on the power supply and note where it says +12VDC xx Amps or something very similar. It should be at least 15A and with some power supplies this may not be enough even
I recommend a good brand like those from Antec or Ennermax. Also if you don't mind purchasing the brand name behind the Antec label, then go for Channel Well, basically they are a huge ODM/OEM for many brands out there like Antec for instance. I personally use the Channel Well ISO series, the 500D model. It has dual cooling fans, both thermally controlled and it runs very quiet.
The NV4_DISP error message can also relate to some corrupted device drivers, in this case the graphics card drivers and possibly some OS system file problems, most likely it's the device drivers.

I think there my be some OS problems. Even after I uninstall and reinstall everything associated witht the card, it still goes to the blue screen.
Any ideas on how to get the OS back to the original state??

You can try the system restore option but if you suspect some OS issues this maybe a moot point as well
You will most likely have to flatline and start with a fresh/new OS install.
I really however recommend that you look at something more then a 300 watt PS, any Socket T/LGA775 system really needs to have more like a 400 watt PS, one with at least 15A on the +12VDC rail

Yes it can be, just a question here on this system of yours, did you just purchase this machine or did you have somebody or a shop do an upgrade for you ?!?
Also, did they not even mention or recommend an upgrade with the PS ?!?

On the advise of another friend, went and bought a Radeon.
