Does it ever crash w/ an error related to acpi.sys?? Or check in your system log and see if there are errors in there about ACPI. I had this same problem on an abit VP6 and I simply replaced my acpi.sys in Windows\system32\drivers w/ an acpi.sys from win2k. I'm not sure how good of an idea this is but it seems to be working for me. I suggest you rename the acpi.sys file from XP rather than delete it.

...disabling pointer acceleration in the mouse control panel. That fixed my jumpy cursor.

install the Intellipoint drivers - even though it says the OS is not supported, that fixed the problem for me

P.S. I am running an Abit VP6 Dual P3 and have been having to use the MPS Multi kernel because of that mouse jerkyness. I have an optical usb intellimouse.

You dont have to reinstall just so you know. You can just change the driver from ACPI to MPS. One of the few switches it will let you do. Just do it from the device manager. I did it on 2475. Worked great. -Aaron
