Populous - The Beginning problem
This is a discussion about Populous - The Beginning problem in the Windows Games category; I installed Populous the beginning on my Windows XP Home SP2 system. When I try to run the game the mouse turns to the hourglass and then nothing else happens and the application isn't running in the task manager.
I installed Populous the beginning on my Windows XP Home SP2 system. When I try to run the game the mouse turns to the hourglass and then nothing else happens and the application isn't running in the task manager. I installed Windows 98SE using Virtual PC but the only difference was that the application was shown in the task manager but would still not run. One thing I noticed was that it did run on my other PC that was Windows 98 but stopped working when I upgraded it to Win98SE. Is it possible it is only compatible with the first edition of 98 or is there another factor involved?

The patch don't work. It won't work on XP Home, Win 98SE or Win 98. The file checker involved in the patch says a load of files are missing and damaged but in Win 98 it says none are missing just damaged.
