Ports

This is a discussion about Ports in the Windows Security category; Hi all. I wasn't sure where the best place was to put this question. Can anyone tell me is there a way to block ports in Win XPPro, without having to use a router to do it. I know that some firewalls claim to be able to block ports but they don't allow the user to do it themselves.

NT4/2K/XP/2003 have always had the ability to block ports. It's only recently with XP SP2 and 2003 that a basic firewall has been included in Windows. Just right-click on a network connection and go to the Advanced Tab.
