She (the Mrs., nor Alyssa AFAIK) doesn't mind, and I would imagine that this forum doesn't support uploading because it can be a haven for junk after a while, even when using automated self-pruning methods. The PC was originally named "Big Blue", but while doing some work with Active Directory I had to rename it during a fresh install (the object took longer than expected to be purged from the AD DB).

Yeah, Abit - don't you just love 'em? So far, I do - this is my 1st Abit board & so far it's running brilliantly. I think my only gripe so far would be the manual, which is a bit vague, or lacking in info in places - especially the part about the pin-outs of the USB header. [i want to connect my Antec ezUSB to it, instead of the supplied back panel wotsit. I'll probably go look for the online/downloadable version of the manual later, to see if it's a bit clearer in there. [yes I know it's probably on the CD, but I can't be arsed to go dig it out ]

Abit?? I purchased the VH6T, read a lot of good reviews (was planning on getting a Tualatin until P4's got better), but it turns out that its a POS that freezes outa nowhere... I could only get it working with a celeron, ... abits tech support sucks, everytime I sent for some help, they ignored me or said 'send your whole system to us and we will test it out'... and if you look at their forum everyone with the board seems to be having the same trouble :-/

In the past, I've not been pleased at all, to say the least, with Abit's motherboards. This one, however, has not given me any crap yet--if it sucks, I just bought it and have 3 months where I can get my money back.

hmm.. tyan mobos are the best by far. no overclocking, but complete stability. no overclocking needed, anyway, runs great. never had any incompatabilities with the 2 i have used. (if u want dual pIIIs go ofr the tyan tiger 230T, best mobo out there)

Tyan is a great company, most definitely. I almost went for the 230T, but the SuperMicro P3TDDE had the on-board RAID I wanted.

lol sort of wandering from the topic... but does supermicro seem pretty good? my next system upgrade will be a p4 xeon, and i noticed they had a nice dual board... but im afraid of leaving tyan, seeing as how i did last time and ended up with an extra pos mobo to add to my collection... (abit VH6T.... if you see this board, just walk away... save you some frustration)

SuperMicro is good, however, a lot of people don't like their tech support. My P3TDDE is great, too bad I can't say the same thing for the IBM 60GXP's which at least one has crapped out.

Brian, what temp is your remaining 60GXP running @? [use SpeedFan if you don't have any other method for checking it's temp as it can read IBM 60GXP's temp sensors, amongst other things]. Mine normally stays below 40&degC unless I'm really thrashing it with something like a defrag, or unless my room's really warm - if yours reads as much above that then maybe some extra cooling is in order? Just a suggestion.

Haven't checked yet. I've got some more important things currently going, and I haven't gotten around to downloading IBM's drive diagnostic tool to analyze both deathstars.

I think I went to download that once for my 75GXP, but I seem to remember that it either could only be used on an empty drive, or that it would wipe any & all existing data on the drive, or am I getting mixed up with something else?

The basic test wont wipe it and its usually enough to tell if its fault or not, you can do a full read/write test that will wipe the drive. All these HDD companies have the same sort of thing though.
