This is a discussion about Power Supply in the Windows Hardware category; Anyone have any idea what use the AUX port on a 400W power supply unit is used for? Sorry I can't be any more specific cos I'm getting this info from a friend and he don't have all the info with him rite now.

if it's the 6 pin(3 ground, 2 3.3, 1 5), it's used in some higher end server boards for extra power(usually these are dual chip boards)
for the most part, you won't find them unless you're running a dual pentium. The only dual AMD out has a proprietary supply, and the MSI model coming out soon uses the P4 4pin 12V--not sure if it uses the Aux as well.

i'm just wondering?!?!?!? what does AUX on sound card do. it is an input but it just makes noise!! whenever it is not muted!

Ali - the aux input on sound cards is usually just a second line-in port... but if there's nothing hooked to it, it may make noise.
