Problem Booting

This is a discussion about Problem Booting in the Customization Tweaking category; OK I got a problem which I guess is kinda related to the video card. See I downloaded a video card driver and I installed it. Then it ends up its the wrong one. I have a ATI 3D rage PRO AGP 2x. Then when restarted the computer it stops at the part when it says starting up and the bar stops like in the middle.

OK I got a problem which I guess is kinda related to the video card. See I downloaded a video card driver and I installed it. Then it ends up its the wrong one. I have a ATI 3D rage PRO AGP 2x. Then when restarted the computer it stops at the part when it says "starting up" and the bar stops like in the middle. But I can boot it up from this option that loads up Windows 2000 controllers which is like Safe Mode. I try to fix the problem from there but I'm not even sure what the problem is so can someone help me out here?

Try booting using "Last known good" instead. This will load up the registry from your last successful boot, which from your post sounds like the last succes was before you installed the wrong drivers, so it should fix you up.

After booting into safe mode, change the video drivers to Standard VGA. Reboot. It should be able to come up properly (though the screen will probably look pretty crummy). Then, install the drivers for your ATI.
