Problem installing C&C Generals
This is a discussion about Problem installing C&C Generals in the Windows Games category; I try to install C&C Generals, but when it is configuring windows installer it gives error 1608: unable to create installdriver instance. I have windows 2000 and at the moment no service packs installed.
I try to install C&C Generals, but when it is "configuring windows installer" it gives error 1608: "unable to create installdriver instance".

You could try installing the Windows Installer 2.0 update, but that is included in SP3. Are you trying to install with Administrator rights?

When I downloaded Windows Installer 2.0 and started to install it said that it already exists on my computer.. And this has only one account which has administrator rights so it shouldn't be the problem.

No problem with me to install it.but i have sp3 installed...
So i think that you need to install sp3
Also try to run msicuu.exe from microsoft web site and then reinstall windows installer.The msicuu.exe is the clean up program for windows installer.
