Problem running internet with router in Vista

I just got a Dell XPS 410 yesterday. I managed to get the internet up and running, but when I tried to connect my Linksys WRT54G router to the modem and computer, I couldn't even connect to the internet let alone access the router through its IP.

I just got a Dell XPS 410 yesterday. I managed to get the internet up and running, but when I tried to connect my Linksys WRT54G router to the modem and computer, I couldn't even connect to the internet let alone access the router through its IP. I tried setting setting the yahoo browser and IE setting to never dial a connection. That solved the same problem I had with the router when I first installed it with my old computer (OS was XP), but it didn't work this time. My modem is D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI Adapter, and my service is SBC. Any help would be appreciated.

OP
I managed to connect to the router by resetting its settings, but I can't connect to the internet with my PC and my friend's laptop.

I had the same problem with VISTA and a lynksis hub.
Finally gave up and set up an old XP box with USB
connection to cable modem as server.Internet works fine now.
Only have 3 boxes networked but can go online with all 3 at
same time.Don't know about your system but I don't notice
any difference in speed.
