Hi
I got this problem when using disk manager it doesnt recognize my hard drives only CD-rom. Or when I try to use partition magic it says this error: Init failed: Error 117. Partition's drive letter cannot be intentified.
I got two drives, IBM 40GB and Maxtor 30GB, they both work perfectly only disk manager doesn't. So what to do? need to reinstall win or what?

oh yes my OS is win2000 SP4

Thanks

i would be backing up all important data from that drive before i did anything else. run chkdsk /R /X c$ (or whatever drive it is)

You may need to reboot to do the scan. If the scan comes out OK, I would delete the partition and make a new one, after backing up the data. (Use disk doctor if you have it too.)
