problem with encrypted files
This is a discussion about problem with encrypted files in the Everything New Technology category; Dear friends, Can anyone help me with this issue? I am having OS of windows XP sp2 professional. I encrypted some files while my administrator name is sundaramurthy. Then one day I formatted the C drive and installed the same OS but with administrator name as sundaramoorthy.

Then one day I formatted the C drive and installed the same OS but with administrator name as sundaramoorthy.Now I cannot retrieve that encrypted files. It shows user detail as sundaramurthy. It does not get encrypt even I have the administrator privileges. Please suggest me a way.

What were you using to encrypt the files?
If you did not backup your EFS key before you formatted, sadly your files are gone.
Try if AEFSDR (Advanced EFS Data Recovery) can recover them.
