Problems formatting ntfs

This is a discussion about Problems formatting ntfs in the Windows Hardware category; In addition to the need for drivers for the 3com dsl/lan setup gives me an error when I attempt to format the hard disk ntfs. If I leave the disk in one partition it only allows me to pformat using ntfs which after it completes reports an error and throws me back to the choose setup partition screen.

In addition to the need for drivers for the 3com dsl/lan setup gives me an error when I attempt to format the hard disk ntfs. If I leave the disk in one partition it only allows me to pformat using ntfs which after it completes reports an error and throws me back to the choose setup partition screen. If I set the disk up with multiple partitions it allows me to format in both ntfs and fat32. If I try ntfs same error. Fat32 formats fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be are appreciated. I'm stumped.

Format in FAT32, then in XP convert it to NTFS.
