Quake 3 strange vsync problem
Hi, I tested the swap_interval setting in Quake 3 Arena and noticed, that the framerate is 85 like my monitor refresh. OK so far so good, but then I noticed that in some viewing angles in some levels the framerate dropped to EXACT the half of 85, just 42! I tested the swap_interval setting in Quake 3 Arena and noticed, that the framerate is 85 like my monitor refresh. OK so far so good, but then I noticed that in some viewing angles in some levels the framerate dropped to EXACT the half of 85, just 42!
This must be a Quake 3 problem, with 100 Hz I sometimes got 50 fps. This sucks, why can the Q3 engine not make fps like 68 or 73 when it goes down. This can't be a problem even if it is in vsync with the monitor refresh. Anyone got a solution? And no, I don't want to play it without vsync, cause the tearing is noticable!
