Quake3a framerate

This is a discussion about Quake3a framerate in the Windows Games category; is there any way to increase my fps in quake3a i cannot get past 30 fps and when i walk around and deathmatch it goes to like 10-15 fps:O( on win98 i ran at like 70 fps ne one help? WinXP 320 Megs Ram Voodoo3
