Quality CD rom drive ??

This is a discussion about Quality CD rom drive ?? in the Windows Hardware category; Hey guys, I have bought 3 Mitsumi CDroms in less than a year. So I have come to the conclusion that Mitsumi CDrom drives are total junk. With that said, who makes a good quality CDrom drive ?? It has to be IDE, so please, no SCSI recommendations.

in my humble opinion, ASUStek and TEAC cd-rom drives are among the fastest/most reliable/etc ones. You might also want to consider cd-roms from Creative (some come with remote control capabilities)....that's all, but then again i went to the other side (DVD drive) 3 years ago. Pioneer ones can be bought online for around £60/€97 here on the continent.

I replaced my Panasonic 12x with a new LG 52x, no problems with either. The 12x was just getting slow. I also have a Sony 4x that still works too.
