This is a discussion about Question in the Windows Software category; Hi All, Just a quick question here. Application Layer Gateway Service. Is it really needed or can it be disabled? Looking at Blackvipers site, he says you can set it up to run manually or you can disable it.

Just a quick question here. Application Layer Gateway Service. Is it really needed or can it be disabled?
Looking at Blackvipers site, he says you can set it up to run manually or you can disable it. When you click on the link for ALG he says that since SP2 has come out that you no longer need to run this service.
What are your opinions on this service?
